Emma Donoghue Reading & New Book
We have a real treat in store for everyone next month, the award winning writer
Emma Donoghue will give a reading here in Clifden on Sunday 10th July, 7.30 pm. This reading will take place at The Inn to the West, Westport Road, Clifden. The Inn is well signposted at the start of St Anne’s Road. This will be a free event, but we ask people to contribute what they can to the Clifden Arts Festival. Emma is very generously giving of her time.
Emma Donoghue, is one of Ireland’s leading writers, and her book Room, won her many awards, while the film based on the book has made her a household name around the world. Emma will read from Room, but she will also introduce her new book, The Wonder, set in Ireland in the 1850s’.
Come along for this wonderful evening. Listen to a great writer, and have a glass of wine, while supporting our very special festival. Please spread the word and bring a friend.
The Clifden Arts Festival takes place this September from the 15th to the 25th, mark it in your diary.
Clifden Community Lotto Update
As most people are aware our financial situation is not as “flush” as in the past, we had decided we could not have our lavish Christmas Parties as in the past in Clifden Station House and The Abbeyglen however our regulars want a “ party / get-together” and so we are having our Christmas Draw next Monday night at Guy’s bar from 9pm, with music, finger food and prizes galore !
We are determined to make it a great night! Come along and join in the fun !
We are most grateful to Shane & Co. from Guys for hosting the party and we sincerely thank the local bars who host the draws on Monday nights and who are donating prizes.
If anybody would like to donate a prize for the evening we would be most grateful, they can be dropped into Connemara Horse & County Wear on Market Street or contact Cathriona 087 2786795.
On Monday from 11am until 4pm we will be in the lobby of Supervalu (thank you Joe Lynch) selling lotto tickets so hopefully we will have a bumper jackpot Monday night.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our supporters, those who purchase and sell our tickets and wish each and every one of you a Happy Christmas and Prosperous 2016
The YesChef Awards 2016 took place at the Hodson Bay Hotel & Spa, Athlone last Tuesday, 20th October. This year’s much anticpated event, which honours the work of Ireland’s hard-working chefs, both young and old, was a superb success with very deserving winners from across the island.
